Post written Oct. 12.
I have been SO SICK lately. I caught a cold last Thursday night, mere hours after receiving a flu shot. Coincidence? Possibly. I spent most of the weekend at home, took Monday off to go to the doc, then had to go to a 2.5 day work function. Being sick in the early stages of pregnancy is pretty much a guarantee that life is going to suck for the short term. I can’t take anything to alleviate the symptoms and both efforts to find just plain Tylenol were futile. Pardon my language but why the fuck doesn’t Target or Walgreens sell just plain damn Tylenol? I don’t want Tylenol PM or Walgreen’s version, I want just regular, good old-fashioned Tylenol. But no, that’s apparently too much to ask so I bought one of those neti pots instead and called it a day. Only that neti pot? Was a gigantic waste of $12 because I felt worse after using it than I had during the first 4 days of my cold. So! How about those pregnancy hormones, eh?
I’m now nearing the 7th week mark and I’ve been told morning sickness starts around week 6 so I’ve been a litte on the edge just waiting for the symptoms to kick in. And kick in they did, though I have no way of knowing if my almost-puking was a result of my cold or my growing uterus but I’d like to assume the latter since I’ve never been one to feel nauseous from a cold. Although, I guess I have given myself a headache before from blowing my nose too hard. So anything’s possible.
So yeah, right at 7 weeks and my symptoms are basically as follows:
Sore boobies, just like last week
More constipation, just like last week (this one’s getting REALLY old)
Some nausea – lasts about 2 hours and occurs at random times throughout the day. No vomiting yet though. (Knock on wood.)
I’ve been a little worried about the no morning sickness thing yet, but then I read a few articles that said not to worry, I was just lucky. So now I’m kind of hopeful that I’m one of those mythological women that don’t get morning sickness! Maybe this body was just made for making babies! Heh. Yeah. I’m not buying that one either.
